Introducing Six Senses Rome

One of the most recent additions to the Six Senses portfolio is Six Senses Rome, opening in early 2023. The prestigious brand heads to the Eternal City, a treasure trove of historic wonders, filled with rich culture, food, art, and architecture. Just steps from the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain, Six Senses Rome is perfectly located in the very heart of the historic city center overlooking via del Corso, in a building so historically rich that it is a UNESCO world heritage site. As part of Six Senses’ first community project, the brand lovingly restored both the hotel’s facade and that of the stunning San Marcello al Corso church, right next door.
In collaboration with renowned Spanish architect Patricia Urquiola, Six Senses Rome emerged as a stunning, minimalist-chic haven and green oasis amidst the hustle and bustle of the city. Within the 96 guest rooms and suites, classic Roman elements blend seamlessly with contemporary design, lush greenery, warm natural light, and a breezy, open atmosphere, making it a perfect urban paradise.
Embellished by traditional Cocciopesto plaster and locally-sourced Travertine limestone, the property’s interiors reflect a contemporary and airy style, with high ceilings, sustainable architecture, mixed patterns, bespoke furniture and natural fabrics. Consistent with the Six Senses ethos, sustainable materials were used to manufacture finishes wherever possible, so each room is not only stylish but also functional and responsible, as energy and water conservation play a vital role in the overall design.
The 96 rooms and suites at Six Senses Rome all feature calming neutral tones accentuated by the natural texture of traditional Roman plastering on the walls, dotted with artwork by local artists. Rooms have views either of the hotel’s lovely inner courtyard or out onto the quaint cobblestoned Roman streets.
Suites range from the Junior Suite (king bed, 435 to 599 sq.ft) to the stunning two-bedroom Mellini and Lata Suites, the latter of which having separate, secondary access for service staff. Perfect for families and groups, these suites are located on the third and fourth floors, respectively, and both boast extensive terraces with incredible views over Piazza di San Marcello, along with kitchenettes for private dining and a fully-equipped pantry.
Six Senses Rome offers two gourmet dining options, the restaurant-café-bar hybrid BIVIUM, and the NOTOS rooftop. BIVIUM is located on the ground floor, in a warm, convivial space that opens out onto an elegant dining veranda embellished with suspended plants. BIVIUM serves all-day dining, featuring an open kitchen and dedicated deli corners. The menu offers modern Italian, plant-based dishes featuring locally sourced ingredients with an emphasis on traditional Roman recipes.
NOTOS Rooftop is a stunning terrace restaurant that feels like a secret garden haven hidden within the bustling Eternal city, complete with lush plants, terra-cotta pottery, and an herb garden. Here guests can enjoy breakfast alfresco and delicious bites and aperitivo at sunset, surrounded by a truly unforgettable panoramic view across the ancient city.
Six Senses has developed an innovative approach to wellness, which plays a pivotal role at all Six Senses resorts, hotels, and spas. At Six Senses Rome, the spa fuses the ancient art of Roman bathing with contemporary, high-tech biohacking therapies. The spa also features a Hammam area, a sauna, meditation rooms, an outdoor yoga deck, a fitness center, and five treatment rooms (one for couples). Guided by a skilled therapist, guests can learn about the power of herbs, plants and other natural ingredients at the Alchemy Bar, a creative healing space dedicated to learning and fun.
With its famous architecture, gorgeous palazzos, renowned artwork, and incredible views, there is no shortage of incredible things to see and do in The Eternal City. Six Senses Rome offers unforgettable signature experiences that are only available to its guests, like private behind-the-scenes tours of Palazzo Colonna and Trevi Fountain, where guests will be able to tour the underground tunnels of aqueduct ruins not normally open to viewing. For art lovers, there is the Follow Caravaggio’s Footsteps experience, where guests will learn all about the incredible painter and then take a “Catch the Light” painting class to create their very own Roman masterpieces.
